MARYLAND SUBURBAN TRAVELING LEAGUE

MMSTL - Back Covers

Prior to the booklet era, during the years 1991-1992 through 1995-1996, most of the weekly highlights were confined to the back page of the weekly 'fold-over' sheet for the MMSTL. The idea of photos of the bowlers was in its early stages, as well as technology being on the crude side for pictures. So sometimes, photos from Classic TV were used to symbolize a bowling accomplishment of the week. And since a lot of the players in the league were of the 'baby boomer' generation, a lot of the guys grew up on similar tastes in television, so the TV pics were familiar. Included here are a few 'select' back covers from that era of the "Traveling League".

Jim Chambers 545 Line Score (with only 1 double-header)
Jim Troxler's All-Wood Set
Steve Yarmola Wins 1st Travel League Open (Free Tournament for All)
The Thrice Rice Zone (Probably my favorite parody)
Wins/Losses Stats on Lost Wood
Reginald Johnson and Vince Basso Tournament Highlighters
Celebrating Valentine's Day
George Garrett's 11 Sets in a Row Over Average
Mark Poole's Monster Performance
"Misfit" Games
Singles Title and Tag-Team Reports
Coleen Mahoney Wins Coors Classic
Ron Jenkins' 163 Game
Stapled Insert for Revenge of the Son of the Return of the Travel League Open

Sometimes, there were unfortunate 'passings' of our favorite people -- local to the league, and TV celebrities. A few of the back covers honored these icons:
Ned Harwood Sr. Tribute (Upper Right Corner)
Chuck Connors Tribute
Cesar Romero Tribute
Bill Bixby Tribute
Vincent Price Tribute
